About MKC

Building strong characters, not just strong athletes.

At Merking Judo Club, we believe judo is more than a sport. It is a platform for children to build character, confidence, discipline and resilience that will serve them throughout life.

Who we are

More than a sport.

Through structured training and positive mentorship, our students learn respect, perseverance, teamwork, responsibility and leadership. In a world filled with distractions, judo helps children develop focus, self-control and the mindset to overcome challenges.

Our goal is not only to develop skilled athletes, but to nurture confident individuals, respectful leaders and resilient young people, both on and off the mat.

Every child who steps onto the MKC mat is coached to grow in character first — and given a structured, safe pathway to go as far in judo as their commitment takes them.

Philosophy

Character Before Champion.

Medals and championships are meaningful achievements, but character lasts a lifetime.

We believe great athletes are built on a foundation of:

01

Respect

Respect for othersEvery session begins and ends with respect — for coaches, training partners, opponents and the dojo itself.
02

Discipline

Discipline in actionTurning up, listening, repeating the basics until they are right. Discipline is built one practice at a time.
03

Courage

Courage in adversityStepping onto the mat, trying a new technique, facing a stronger partner — courage grows through safe, guided challenge.
04

Humility

Humility in successWinning well matters. Students learn to celebrate progress while staying grounded and helping others improve.
05

Resilience

Resilience in failureIn judo, everyone falls. Learning to fall safely — and get back up — is one of the first and most lasting lessons.
06

Commitment

Commitment to continuous improvementProgress in judo is earned steadily over years. We encourage consistent effort and a mindset of always improving.

These values are deeply embedded in every training session and every interaction within our club.

Vision & mission

Why we do it.

Vision

To inspire the next generation of athletes to achieve excellence in judo, represent Selangor and Malaysia with pride and become responsible, successful leaders in life.

Mission

To make judo accessible to more children and families in the Klang Valley, helping young people discover purpose, discipline and self-confidence.

We strive to nurture future athletes, support youths who need positive guidance, and develop individuals who will succeed in sport, education, career and life.

Looking ahead · 2026/2027

Our plan.

The club’s priorities for the 2026/2027 season. These are goals, not claims of what has been achieved.

  1. Position

Establish MKC as the preferred judo academy for character development, competitive excellence and lifelong martial arts learning.

  2. Build the brand

Promote judo as a recognised sport among students, parents, sponsors and partners — and make families aware of the pathway towards representing Selangor.

  3. Valuable content

Deliver meaningful content that educates and inspires, helping more families discover judo.
